Beginning of hard-work season

Getting colder outside. Birds migrate south. You can stop mowing and watering a lawn – grass grows slowly now. Time to wear something warm and soft, made of wool… As everybody knows, autumn and winter is the hottest period for knitwear designers and producers. The same story about us – leaves on the trees getting yellower – our workflow accelerates more and more. This September was full of different activities and happenings and here you can read a little bit more about the most interesting of them:

Kiyv Fashion 2019

Do you remember Mekoome participated in Estonian Fashion Festival this summer? So, we also took part in a special program for young designers in the frame of the Festival. The final point of the program was attendance at the international trade show. Along with 8 young Estonian designers, Mekoome exhibited debut collection «Knitted Cityscapes» at Kiyv Fashion Fair, which took place from 10th to 12th of September.

We were amazed by the scale of the fair – hundreds of buyers, producers, designers attended the fair and met up to find new contacts and connections. Besides every day fair program, we had chance to listen to some lectures and see fashion shows.

Despite it was the first international fair experience for Mekoome, we managed to find useful contacts and estimate our participation as resultive.

Tips of Kiev:

TIP1

Autumn is perfect time to visit Ukraine. It was still warm summer weather there, while in Tallinn we already were wraped into the jackets. Wonderful Kiyv is worth of walking through, so even tired after the working day we enjoyed the city, looked into local design shops and tasted typical food.

TIP2

Ukranian food is delicious and plesantely affordble for Estonian purse. Everybody might know Ukranian borsch, but there are much more good thing to taste. Our favourite place to eat was a seafood restaurant with special Blacksea cuisine. «Heavenly» yummy forschmak was the reason to come back to the place once again. And of course, we coudn`t go home without famous Kyiv cake.

Design Street at Tallinn Design Festival 2019

The focus of the Tallinn Design Festival this year was about Future materials, but to be honest, September started for Mekoome way to intensively. So we didn`t have any chance to attend events of the Festival, that took place in Noblessner.

However, Mekoome was selected to Design Street market, that happened on Saturday 21th in Noblessner`s Shipyard. Fantastic venue disappointed us with the freezing temperature, but luckily, our lovely customers and designers made our heart warm.

Totally unexpectedly Mekoome stand was visited by Japanese journalists from Casa Brutus and ELLE lifestyle department. Many thanks to Janne Funk, who helped to introduce Mekoome concept to Japanese press.

Also local magazine Jana Journal found our designs special and wrote about Mekoome.
